The dark side of the moon

it just dawned on me that we may be witnessing they actual decay of society that the flesh can perpetrate. Thinking about the increase of all the deseases and hearing loss and obecity, crime, etc. . It may not seem like an apiphany but i was thinking of how we shun the Roman's for things they did. WE do all of those things now and at an ever increasing rate.
When I say "we" and the "culture" I mean only the western world and North America specifically. We are uniquely equipped and capable of complete sin saturation as weare the richest people in the world, therefore capable of affording all the necissary "equipment" to feed our flesh.

it's true, and everytime I hear another instance of "the ten commandments being removed from the capitol building", etc; I think that the second coming must be approaching. I'm not one to predict dates, but the decline of mankind is happening like crazy, all around us. It makes me sad

Again I don't think our society is necessarily worse today then it has ever been, I think we are now simply more aware of it, because technology makes everything more accessible. People have always been bad. There has always been terrible sin. People have been expecting the second coming for over 2000 years now. I'm not saying it might not happen at any moment; I'm simply saying that we should be prepared to go, but also prepared to think the world might continue on for another 2000 years. If the world is to continue on for a long time yet, we need to consider ways to help others, to keep the earth healthy and all that...to say the world might end today and not see that it might also continue on for thousands of years is irresponsible. God gave us, as Christians, the responsibility of looking after others, of loving them, of taking care of the environment as WELL as preparing ourselves for imminent departure.

wow, this got you all fired up, huh?
I agree that people are the same as they always have been. I was just saying that with the new technologies we can harm our bodies even faster.
There are new kinds of permanent damage showing up all the time because of over use and abuse of the new technologies.
Like overuse of earbud headphones at high volumes. If it keeps going the way it is now, there will be ten times as many hearing impaired people as there ever has been in a single generation. That fact is what made me wonder.
I'm not sure where Christ coming back came in? I didn't really even think about that at all. And, by the way, I never said the world is going to end today. Though I do appreciate your enthusiasm in seeing that I am "responsible".

christ coming back spouted from the idea of end second coming...so maybe that was more from what kaylen. but i'm not all that fired up about it. it was just a thought that unravelled...

and you do have a point i suppose, we are slowly destroying ourselves through everyday use of things....

amy i thought the same as you, or at least part of it, when i first read the post. i do not think that society is worse today than previously, i DO think that it is easier to see, more prominent because of our technology and ability to share and access information. but it is just terrible in different forms than before

and i laughed jason, because i saw the thing on CNN about earbuds also!

No, I agree that sin is the same as it's always been and I don't think too hard about the second coming being now or in 2000 more years, but what made me think that is the decline of religion being allowed in our country. Just the other day I heard that an organization is trying to get all mentions of God off of public air. Meaning no more church services on tv or radio, no more christian radio stations, etc. I dont think it'll happen, but things like that keep popping up and I see it as the start of God finally getting fed up with our ever-increasing wicked ways. I don't think it has to do with technology, either, though.
